The Farm Shop

Summerhill Farm Shop is a joint enterprise between the Southill Estate, Andy Jones and Janine Triccas. The underlying concept of the shop is to provide an indepedent outlet for quality local produce in a location that serves the interests both of the local community and of people throughout Bedfordshire and the surrounding regions.

The shop occupies a weather-boarded farm building in Cardington. Built during the Victorian era to accommodate farm stock, changes to farming practice have led to the building standing without distinct purpose for some years. Although the interior has now been extensively refurbished to meet with strict hygiene requirements and modern perceptions of a food shop, the original form and personality of the exterior has been retained. Consequently the shop is well placed to provide a valuable asset both to residents of Cardington and to surrounding communities without imposing on the established character of the village.

Since meeting, Andy and Janine have shared a passion for good food. Why not? A butcher and a caterer - it's a match made in Heaven!

"Our home life revolves around the kitchen. We are truly a couple who live to love good food and so it seems only natural to extend that passion to the farm shop and share our enthusiasm for all things food with you.

"With more than twenty years experience in the meat trade, both in high street butchers and the increasingly fast-paced supermarket arena, it was definitely time to get back to some traditional principles. A family heritage of butchering and an appreciation of good healthy food meant it was time to sharpen the knives and do the job in the way it should be done; close to source, and up close with customers who recognise and appreciate quality produce."
