How Summerhill Farm Shop came to be

Summerhill Farm Shop is a joint enterprise between the Southill Estate, Andy Jones and Janine Triccas. Our aim is to provide an independent outlet for quality local produce serving the interests both of the local community and people throughout Bedfordshire.

We have a lovely weather-boarded farm building in Cardington. Built during the Victorian era to accommodate farm stock, changes to farming practice meant that barn was left sadly unused for some time. We have refurbished the site to build the shop and ensure that we meet strict hygiene requirements. The original form and personality of the barn has been retained with the fantastic traditional black exterior.

Consequently, the shop is well placed to provide a valuable asset both to residents of Cardington and to surrounding communities without imposing on the established character of the village.

It's kept in the family

Our home life revolves around the kitchen. We are truly a couple who live to love good food and so it seems only natural to extend that passion to the farm shop and share our enthusiasm for all things food with you. .

A family heritage of butchering and an appreciation of good healthy food meant it was time to sharpen the knives and open a farm shop in the way it should be done; close to our sources and our customers who recognise and appreciate quality produce.

We're determined to be the best!

Since meeting, Andy and Janine have shared a passion for good food. Why not? A butcher and a caterer - it's a match made in Heaven!

Since opening we have tried and continue to look for new ways to provide the best possible service to both our customers and our team here in the shop. We have grown constantly and have recently expanded. Come back soon to see some pictures of our newest team members!

We have taken on several additional staff including assistants in the butcher's department as well as several sales assistants and continue to expand regularly. We're already part of the community here in Cardington and hope to provide an even better service in the years to come!
