Cheese
The selection of cheeses that can now be found on the deli counter has been grown considerably. There are so many delicious British cheeses that it isn’t possible to stock them all but as many as possible have been squeezed into the counter.
There is an excellent choice with something to suit everyone and every occasion – the range currently includes :
- Extra mature cheddars (Wookey Hole Cave Aged, Black Bomber, Winterdale Shaw Cave Aged and the ever-popular Barbers 1833)
- British blues (Colsten Bassett Stilton, Colsten Bassett Shropshire Blue, Barkham Blue, Pont Gar Blue, Oxford Blue)
- Soft cheeses (Channel Island Brie, Somerset Brie)
- Semi hard cheeses (Sharpham Rustic, Gorwydd Caerphilly, Cornish Yarg, Wild Garlic Yarg)
- Sheep and goat cheeses (Fine Fettle, Lord of the Hundreds, Rosary)
- Smoked cheeses (Goodweald, Quickes)
- Hard cheeses (Thomas Hoe Stevenson Aged Red Leicester)
- Hard granula cheese (Parmegianno Reggiano)
Charcuterie and Antipasti
The deli follows, as far as possible, the local ethos of the whole shop and includes delicious Bedfordshire Black Ham as well as the Traditional Ham and salamis and chorizos from the Suffolk Salami Company. There are Italian and Spanish varieties for those who prefer them and a variety of stuffed olives and other antipasti including the very popular Peppersweet – cheese stuffed, sweet, mini peppers. The patés are currently French but some great English products have been sourced and will be introduced shortly.
Pies and Pastries
Cottage Bakery feature again here and provide freshly baked quiches which are sold by the slice from the counter. There are also pork pies, scotch eggs, family pies (chicken & ham, beef & onion and steak & kidney).
Buffet Service
If you are planning a buffet and would like a selection of chilled platters, call in or phone to speak to a member of staff about the options available.
