Local food for local people
Closer links are being established with many local producers and much time and effort is being put into finding the very best available. As much as possible will be sourced from within 50 miles of the shop and a great start has been made.
New lines
Since July 2011, many new products have been sourced to expand the range offered. You will now find Doherty’s chutneys and preserves from Bierton alongside delicious raw chocolate produced (but not grown!) in Cambridge, Sinful Sauces from Northampton produced with chillies from Edible Ornamentals in Chawston (Edible Ornamentals own range of great chilli sauces and salsas are also back on the shelves). Maynards Ice Cream (Biggleswade) and Humbers Homemade Preserves (Flitwick) and several breweries are amongst other local producers who have been re-introduded to the shop.
Other local products
Many other local producers continue to supply the farm shop – there is local Bedfordshire honey, free range eggs from here in Cardington, chilled curry sauces from Meah’s of Luton and apple juice from Watergull Orchards in Wisbech.
Other great British products
Unfortunately, not everything can be sourced locally! Some lines have to be bought in from elsewhere – when this has to happen, only the very best available is sourced. Products include vegetable crisps from Glennans of Uttoxeter, awarding winning Jannock’s biscuits for cheese from Shropshire and Teapigs, who are based in Brentford, are now supplying their exciting range of tea from Brentford.
